850 alternator belt re-route 850

My AC compressor clutch is shot - is there a way I can re-route it so it doesnt need to go over AC pulley? the thing is making a lot of noise and I think its going to sieze up. Its a late 94 850 non-turbo automatic

You will need the hard-to-find short belt. Most USA cars came with AC so the dealers didn't stock them.

If the noise is coming from the clutch, that can "easily" be removed and a junk yard version fitted. If the noise is coming from the compressor, unplug the pressostat or the AC relay or fuse so the clutch does not engage the compressor.

IPD has the info 850

IPD has a diagram and the correct belt for the AC bypass. I think it was a standard setup in the UK...
