Thermometer 850 95

My thermometer/temp gauge seems to be dying. It's telling me that it's about 90 degrees out when its more like the mid-60's. Can anybody tell me where to get a new sensor and how to replace it? (and the difficulty level?) From what I understand it is located near the front grill.

Rob, before any drastic measures are taken, find the sensor and make sure it is in its place. On my S70 it is on the left side grill in the bumper shroud. It has a little plastic seat/socket it sits in. Mine popped out of its socket once and started fratranizing with the radiator. This made it report high temperature (the radiator proximity temperature). I put it back home and the problem went away.

    Good luck.

It seems that once the car gets warmed up that the temp goes crazy. So maybe it is related to the radiator. How big is the sensor? Should I look for it from under the car?

      Thanks for all your responses.

    Rob,

Before you replace it...it is only accurate when the car is up to speed. If the numbers are still unbelievable then indeed the sensor could be at fault but usually they fail totally. It is located drivers side attached to the front spoiler. It will be obvious as the only odd thing with wires attached to it. It simply snaps out of the holder and then unplugs from it's harness, a new one is likely only available from a dealer.
