Simplest Way to Change Rear Shocks on a 2004 v70 V70-XC70

Can I do them on the ground (seems like I can). Remove center nut in the car and the lower bolt off the suspension arm and drop them through the hole. But it looks like I don't have enough clearance under the car to withdraw the shock.

Or pull the bracket (three bolts) and lift them out through the passenger compartment.

What's the best and easiest way to do this?

Not Nivomat's.

Simplest way- Put the car on a lift. Remove top nut. Remove bottom bolt. Shock slides out the bottom.

Without a lift, you might try backing onto ramps. I hate them. Or jack up the rear end and set the tires on cribbing and blocks that do not extend under the shock mounting. I'm not sure you would get it high enough if you ran one side up on a curb.

I had to use a small pry bar to get the shock to line up with the lower mount.

There's only one way to go and that's below. I spent an hour placing jack
stands and convincing myself not to do it without a lift. You confirmed my
      suspicion.
