Fuel door repair V70-XC70 1999

My fuel door release failed a while ago and I had to pry it open breaking the catch. I squirted some silicone spray into the mechanism and worked it back and forth, but it would not open.

Yesterday, I went to the pick and pull and picked up one off a 2000 V70 along with the D-pillar speakers, and a grill piece where I don't have fog lamps. I snapped in the grill and speakers.

When I got home, I checked out the "new" fuel door release motor and it worked fine. Then I removed the old one and checked it out to find it works fine too. Go figure!

As soon as I get the new lock pin from the dealer, I expect to have a fully operational fuel door. Now if I could just get my side mirrors and rear door window working, I'd be happy. At least for a while.

As always, thanks for all the help you give.

You will want to check the side mirror fuse, yes there is one. If the rear door window switch doesn't work at either the rear door or front group, there is a wiring issue or the rear door switch is dead.

You could pull the rear switches out on both sides and see if the right side one works in the left plug.

You should have snagged a fuel/rear hatch switch from the P&P, just as a backup.

I did get a fuel/hatch switch and it didn't help. But the fuel door motor works now.

I'll check the right switch on the left door to see if that helps. And I'll check the mirror fuse.

      Thanks
