A better headliner adhesive 850

My headliner was loose in the back just above the center kiddo booster seat.
"Scotch Super 77" was suggested in a few threads found, but it didn't work.

Then the asbestos removal guys showed up to get rid of some insulation so that
a new steam boiler could be installed. They built a plastic house around the old boiler and used a spray adhesive to glue the plastic to the concrete floor .
They gave me a can, and I used it on the headliner where the Scotch stuff had failed. and Bingo it's stuck on solid.

The product is called "I-Chem - Web Spray Adhesive MP"
Item # ICA308 see: www.i-chem.com

    NO GOOD after all 850

The high heat of this weekend dropped the headliner, and now I realize whats wrong. There's a thin layer of bad foam stuff that's falling apart, and no glue is going to hold. The old layer of dead foam needs to go before applying adhesive.

Now I'm back to wondering how nasty a job it is to get the headliner board out,
and of course even worse, how to get it back in with busted fasteners.

Is there a good writeup for getting the sedan headliner fixed?

    Bill

Thanks Bill. I wonder if it would work on hood pads as well.

3M Marine Adhesive #5200 also works great, but does take about 48 hours to set-up. Not sure if it will work on hood pads. Very strong stuff though..

This stuff really works and it's quick.

I did my headliner when it was cold too, and the hardest part is to stick it in place with the first attempt. It's like contact cement, with very little wiggle time.

Post back if it works for you, Bill

3m 77 says on the can not for headliners. 3m 80 says can be used for headliners. It has held up on my so far. Here's a bit more info http://www.brickboard.com/AWD/index.htm?id=1538537&show_all=1
