Clicking noise 850 1994

Can someone tell me about the noise I'm hearing, when I turn left I hear a clicking noise from my front passenger side wheel?

Get under the car and look at the CV boot on the side that is clicking. If you see a tear in the boot it's most likely the CV joint.

Does the noise appear ONLY when turning and the wheels are turning?

Reason I ask is I had an annoying "click click click..." coming from the front passenger side of the engine.

Neither the "prominent" Houston Dealer's "genius" techs nor an independant Volvo "expert" could correctly diagnose the problem.

It was simply a frayed serpentine accessory drive belt which I replaced myself for $23.

You know what really bugged me - I specifically asked the dealership to check out the noise and since the car had 57K mile to "see if the serpentine belt needed replacement". Their tech told me all was just fine.

Sure glad I found the problem and fixed it before my wife and kids got stranded somewhere!

Could be a CV joint. I recently had a wheel bearing go and it made more of a squeaking sound that I first noticed as I slowed to a stop but did not go away when I let off the brake. It did it straight ahead and in turns with varying degrees of a squeaky rubbing sound and got worse and worse over time. I've never had a bad CV joint though so I cannot say for sure.

On mine, I heard it only when turning the wheel all the way hard right or left, and it just turned out to be I needed to grease the stops behind the wheel. After greasing them both, I never had the problem afterwards.
