I recently got a 2000 xc70 and am still in the stages of getting all the intereesting PO bugs out of it, but, here's one that has a couple if us scratching our heads.
The thing has no off switch for a traction control to the right of the steering wheel, but when I got it, it had a traction control error, that was fixed with a replacement abs module, and when put up on the lift, and fired up it does teh 2 second test flash on teh TC light and when put in gear it drives both rears and one front for a few seconds, makes a little sound then both fronts are rolling away, and attempts to stop one of them with a pipe are no go ( up in the air like that with no resistance on teh other side, a pipe wedged on teh ground against the tire should easily stop a non driving tire ), so the traction control is obviously functioning
Question here is did they actually make some that didnt have a shutoff switch, or did the brain trust that used to own this thing have a switch fail and yank it out and stuff a dummy plug in its spot( of which there is one in that position )
THis would not shock me since i have found similar things in a few other spots on the car where the only thing needed was a simple cleaning of some plug contacts.
Also, what is that interesting little open hole all the way to the right on the switch panel to the right of the steering column? I can't even find a reference to it in VADIS
Thanks
