Used '98 V70 Transmission -- How much $$ to Install? What Years Would Fit?

I think the automatic transmission in my base 1998 V70 has given up the ghost. I was surprised to a see a number of places on the internet offering used transmissions, with fairly long warranties, for $400-$500.

Curious is anyone has any comments on the quality/reliability I could expect on these? Also wondering how much a shop would charge to install it? And what years 70 series trannies would fit?

Replace with a 98-00 four speed tranny. It takes a shop about 8 billable hours to do the swap. Ask them to also replace the rear main seal while it is apart.

Most recycle companies will guarentee it for a year.

Erie Vovo (not Volvo) has a good reputation for used parts. Their transmissions have a lifetime warranty. When I was contemplating the replacement of the trans in my 02 S60 the number was something like 10 hrs for removal and installation.
