Turbo V70-XC70

Okay I just got my hands on a 98 V70R. It's a parts car way past gone. I want to try to put some parts on my 2004 XC70. My question will it fit and is the one from the R better and give me more power.

a98 v70R has a 2.3L 236 hp motor and your 04 xc7o is a 2.5L 210 hp, you would not gain anything by swapping parts or motors, I have a 01 v70 T5 and my wife has a 04 xc70, my wifes car can keep up with my T5 with no trouble.

I am not an expert, nor will I ever be - however I am going to say likely not. The boost pressure is regulated by a combination of the ECU, and readings taken from the manifold pressure sensor which control the turbo wastegate. You'll likely throw overboost code P0234, and the car will not run any better....

that being said however, if you replace the turbocharger, and upgrade the piping and get an ECU reflash (don't know much about this though) you may stand to gain some serious performance increase. As this site is geared more towards maintenance and keeping our beloved cars working you may find some better info on the likes of turbobricks.com (not a plug in any means....but they are more into the tuning and performance aspect) - likely more in depth than my shadetree two cents.

    Best,
    Steve
