Exhaust/Muffler noise 850 1995

Recently bought a 1995 850 wagon, 32K. Not sure if this is a problem but the car seems to have an unusually loud exhaust. Don't see any problems and the exhaust system is original. Anyone else have this or is this "normal" for this model?

    The non-turbo models have a rather noisy exhaust. Kinda

    has a motor-boat engine quality while moving (from the

    inside). Standing next to one driving by I'd call it

    somewhat "throaty".

      I'd say it sounds more like a vaccuum cleaner.

    Either have yourself or a good mechanic check the exhaust system for leaks or holes/damage. Sometimes you may miss the joints that connect to the cat, downpipe or muffler--make sure there are no small cracks or seams. A leak of any kind in the system will cause excess noise.
