850 fan for heater 850

I had to replace the heater blower in both my 240's (@ about 175,000). My 850 blower when I ran the heater was just starting to make a noise similar to the 240 before it went out. I was told common problem in 240's. Is this common 850 (96) problem? It look alot of time on 240 cuz blower up underneath the dash board. Is ths location in the 850? Thanks

You have to remove the glove box and under dash cover on the passenger side. After that it's pretty easy. The brushes usually wear down and loose contact with the armature. If you're handy you can take the motor apart and loosen the brush wires with a soldering iron to restore the contact.

No, I understand the 850 blower is a piece of cake. Couple hour job.

Try searching the BB. I think there might be something you can do to extend its life.
