Can I drive this home? Trans PNP switch question V70-XC70

Hello All!

A question: I'm considering purchasing a 1999 V70XC with 129k. It currently has the flashing up arrow which points to the PNP switch as being unhappy. The question: Can I drive the car like this without damaging anything, especially the transmission? I have about 100 miles to get it home 25% city and 75% highway. The plan is to replace the PNP switch ASAP.

What makes you think that it is the PNP switch?

Does the car start in Park and Neutral?

PNP switches usually act up in cold weather.

Does the transmission shift properly?

I was under the impression that if you row the lever and the starting problem goes away - that was a sign that pointed to the PNP.
