turbo noise 850 96

I drove a '96 854T today (58K miles), and noticed a slight whistling noise under WOT. I'm familiar with the moaning and whining sounds of dying turbos in the 7/900 series, but this sounded more like a high-pitched air leak. Acceleration was smooth and strong, and the hoses looked OK.

Is this a normal noise for the 850s, or is it the sound of bad things to come? Thanks in advance.

The high pitched whine is the typical sound of the 850 Turbo. Sounds like everything is in fine working order.

My 94 sounds like a train whistle in the mornings when it is cold out, when it warms up it has a whine to it, but it's normal, just the way a volvo turbo sounds is all.
