Micro Switch....Pleasant Surprise 850 1996

I was all ready to try to replace my tempermental micro switch after finding the directions on volvospeed website. I went down to buy it from the dealer for around $15 and after we started talking, he looked up my VIN and found a recall campaign for this. They are going to fix it for me for free.

I have seen several other posts from folks having the same problem, might be worth checking out and maybe getting it fixed for free next time you are in for some other service.

Any idea what years and models were covered?

Not sure,

mine is a 1996 850, the open recall campaign number was 76.

If you call your local Dealer and give them your VIN, they should be able to look it up in the Volvo computer system.

Good luck!

Re: Micro Switch....Pleasant Surprise 850 1996

Guys,

The part is only about $13-15 bucks- for my time and money, I would choose to do it myself!!

I did do it myself - it was very easy- thanks to the wonderfull guys at Bay 13!!!!!

Why leave your car at the dealer all day- do it yourself. Your time is worth more than the inconvenience IMHO - unless your the non-mechanical sort.

Re: Micro Switch....Pleasant Surprise 850 1996

You are right.

It is a cheap and easy do it yourself fix which I was planning to do myself. But I drive right by the dealer every day and they took me to the office and picked me up. The car was not even there half a day and it was free. They even hand washed my car so that saved me even more time.

So to me it was not an inconvenience at all, and I consider my time to quite valuable. I think I will spend the time I saved not fixing it myself with my kids on Saturday, instead of my car.

And as far as the recall thing goes, maybe I just got lucky.

Next thing will most likely be a do it myself job!

Re: Micro Switch....Pleasant Surprise 850 1996

I have a 96 850 Turbo, so I called my dealer up, he checked my VIN, and it did not show any recalls applicable to my car. So I guess it's on a VIN by VIN basis. It's probably worth a phone call...
