FWIW- Spoke to a Local Exhaust Shop about a Custom "Cat Back" 850 1995

for my 850 turbo.

He said he could fabricate a cat back system no problem - but it would have to be welded onto the cat and would not have the smooth mandrel bends.

His ballpark was about $350.

He conceded that the IPD system was well made and came with the mandrel bends for better flow.

This is a major local shop in Houston- appreciate his candidness.

Guess I am still down to either the IPD or the SuperSprint- but leaning a bit more towards the IPD system.

Why do you like the IPD better? From what I've seen...SuperSprint system seems to have much better finish and quality.

Why IPD - well, only from the standpoint that the TME/IPD system seems to have been around longer and designed specifically for the Volvo 850.

That said- I am certainly capable of being convinced that the SuperSprint is better.

My concerns are fitment and noise levels- on this basis , which do your or anyone believe is better?

IMHO Unless you are building an all-out, free-flowing race machine, I'm not convinced that a mandrel bent system is going to be that much better than what your local shop can do for a lot less money. Maybe what, 1 or 2HP if that? It certainly can't be more than that unless the local fab has hideously ugly 90 degree bends. Then it's all down to the muffler. Good luck, post what you choose and any comments please.

I would suggest that you order the exaust from your local dealer because Volvo makes the exaust that IPD sells less the "IPD" engraving. It will cost less and you will not have to pay for any of the added shipping. This is the route that I have gone and I paid 749.95 and no shipping. I dont have the part number on me now but will get it back to you. Also for those looking to put a disc changer in the glove box, my local dealer sells the unit and the install for just 399, that's installed!!!

Wait a minute - you said Volvo makes the IPD exhaust. I thought the IPD exhaust was supposed to be a performance enhancing exhaust. If Volvo makes it, what did it come on?

I believe you are mistaken about Volvo manufacturing the IPD exhaust system.

TME makes the IPD exhaust system - unless Volvo owns TME - which I don't believe to be the case.
