overheating 850 1994

Hi All; I recently purchased a '94 850 Turbo Wagon with 112k miles. It's been running great but last night the temp gauge climbed into the red while doing 55MPH on the interstate. Temp. came back down after I slowed down. Coolant level OK and no codes set. Car still runs great. Has anyone else had this experience ? Could it be T'stat or even a bad gauge ?

Ditto replacing the thermstat. We have a '93 and a '94 and both needed new thermostats near 100,000 mile mark.

First bet is the thermostat, there is a post at the bay13 link below that will walk you through the replacement. Make sure your fan (on the radiator) is working as well, if it doesn't kick in your temps could climb.
