Fuel pump issue S70 1998

I am having an issue with my 98 S70 N/A. The car will sputter out and die while driving like its not getting any fuel to the engine. Once the car dies it will not start again for about an hour or so. When trying to start the car after it dies the fuel pump does not turn on but after the car sits with the keys out it will start up and run fine until it decides to have the same problem and leave me on the side of the road.

I have replaced the MAF (had a code from the ECU), the fuel pump fuse (in the main fuse box), the fuel pump relay (Fuse #103) and also the fuel pump itself. The issue has a mind of its own on when it wants to occur. I can't do anything to recreate the problem while I have the car home in the garage. I have tried to cycle the key from the off and on to see if I can hear if the fuel pump comes on which it does every time, I can drive it without any issues until it starts to sputter, choke out and die. Once this happens the fuel pump does not turn back on until the car sits for some time.

Any ideas? Please help!!

Classic symptom of a failing fuel pump relay (#103 under the fuse tray).

If there is no spark, then the cam position sensor is probably at fault.

If there is no fuel pressure, check the schrader valve at the end of the fuel rail with a cloth and phillips screwdiver to push the valve. If it just dribbles out after an attempted start, then the fuel pump might be toast.

Is this a new 103 relay? If not, jumper the slots for 15 and 87.

I also had similar issues with a failing cam sensor.
Cam sensor should throw some codes even before check engine will come on.

How about new fuel filter? Maybe pump over heats after trying to push fuel through a clogged filter.

There is a fuel injection relay that sits by the radiator, I think. Another possibility is the fuel pressure regulator.

Do you know what number the fuel injection relay is or a better understanding of where it is located?

This is a link that shows an 850 fuel injector relay. I'm guessing it's the same for S70, but not sure. On the 850 it's at top of radiator shroud on rt. side. Try web search for S70.
