Trouble shooting S70

Got up, looking good, happy as a June Bug. Jumped into my Base S70. Fired it up and instantly drove away from the curb. Usually let cylinders bathe in oil and then drive leasurly away. Drove about 3 seconds down the hill and engine dies. Engine turns over but will not fire! Always fires instantly. Unhooked MAF sensor. No difference. Suggestions Please!

ANSWER Trouble shooting S70

You have a 1998, so no coil overs making it easier to check for spark. The MAF will not cause the engine to die, just run poorly.

Turn the key to posII and listen for the 2-3 second humm from the fuel pump. Is it running? You know where the fuel pump relay is, so try jumpering 15 and 87 with a paper clip and check the pump again.

Do you have a code reader ?

How old is your timing belt ?

If the cams are turning, plug an extra spark plug into one of the coils, ground the metal shell (not doing so may damage the ignition system), crank the motor and see if you have spark at the plug.

Have a code reader and there are No Codes. Timing belt changed 20,000 miles ago.
