Keyless Entry 850 95

I just got a keyless entry remote from ebay that I can't seem to get to work. I do have the entry system on my car - red LED on the dash and all the locks open when I unlock any of the doors. I tried the "turn to position 2 5 times then hold button down for 5 sec" but it's still not working. Do I need a new battery? Any suggestions would be great.

    A battery at Radio Shack is about $2.70

    first make sure you have the correct remote. on the back is a part number. if the number starts with a 3 it is for 1993 and 1994ish cars. if the number starts with a 9 it is for later cars and should work for you.
