ABS SRS and TRACS 850

I bought an 855 for $900, all that's wrong is these 3 lights are constantly on, I am having no issues with the brakes and it runs smooth as heck. The traction control will not turn on when I press the button. I honestly have not a clue what to check first.

ABS SRS and TRACS 850

I've had an intermittent ABS TRACS light issue for a few years.
I found that the brake position sensor had bad solder connections.
Pulled it out and resoldered the joints last weekend.
So far no lights. It was a very easy DIY repair.

This would have nothing to do with the SRS light though. Maybe that's another problem.

If this is a 1996-7 then it is easy, you need a refurbished ABS module. There are several people who re-solder them for much less than $100. ABS and TRKS are both related.

The SRS light can only be diagnosed and turned off via dealer code reader, for 1996-7.

If you have a 1994-5, then get the error codes and fix the sensors.

I think I found the problem... The rear driver side wheel sensor is completely broken, I replaced the module anyways, which couldn't hurt I'm sure, just want to know if a broken sensor would also cause this problem.

If you bought a 1996 or 1997 850, it is normal for the ABS module to crack its soldering. There are several good folks who repair them.

This person is in So California and very reputable: http://home.earthlink.net/~vicrocha/

This person is in Michigan:
https://www.midwest-abs.com/1998_S70.php

That will eliminate the ABS/TRKS lights in 99% of the cases.

For 1996/7, you will need to stop at a dealer to get the SRS code read and determine what the problem is. Remember, once the light is on, the air bags will NOT deploy.

If you bought a 1994-5, check the codes yourself using the diagnostic boxes on the passenger side of the hood. The ABS modules do not fail and it is usually a wheel sensor.

Thank you for this info! Much needed, I will certainly figure out a way to get the codes checked..

I sent an email to the fellow in Michigan as I am located in Canada and thank god he isn't too far.

Also, it's a 97, sorry, forgot to mention.

just guessing here, but it sounds like same problem as in S70s, like my '98, where cracks develop in the solder on the motherboard that controls the ABS/TRAC system...numerous posts on the site about...Vic something or other can repair, or buy rebuilt one from Xemodex...way cheaper than the dealer...
