Legal Headlights 850 1993

I see ads for "plasma Blue" headlight bulbs. I understand they burn at a higher wattage - near 100w compared to the about 50-60w in regular bulbs.

Does anyone know if they are legal in New York or other states.

And does anyone have anyexperience on if they are really that much better.

I need to get a new bulb and am wondering if I should 'upgrade'

Thanks!

    Re: Legal Headlights 850 1993

Check with your local and state laws, it's pretty variable--where I live, they're considered illegal. But regardless of the law, don't bother wasting your money. Because these "plasma blue" bulbs burn at higher wattages, they also tend to burn out very quickly. Besides, having overwattage bulbs on a car that isn't equipped to handle that kind of drain and heat could cause damage to your car's electrical system.
