Replacement of antenna mast S40-V40 2000

I'm trying to replace an antenna mast. Pulled broken pieces(4 sections)entire Nylon cord, holding nut,but now the lower section of the mast(thicker piece) does not come out because it's being held in by the sleeve piece. This piece has its "lip" seating right on the threaded piece where the nut screws in. Tried to pry it out with no success(I'm afraid to damage the thread).Any suggestions how to remove this sleeve? Tks

You are going to laugh at this, but it worked for me. I took a pair of regular pliers and plased it under the button on top of the antenna. Then I took a hammer and hit the pliers upward, with considerable force. It took a while, but the bottom slieve finally began to come up. You cannot pry the sleeve out!

    Have fun!

The sleeve must come out, because it's preventing the mast to come completly out.I have the new mast with new sleeve and looking at it ... it's obvious otherwise the mast can't come out. I could try what you did,the problem is that I only have the bottom section of the mast in and no button to apply pliers on...I guess I'm gonna pull out the all assembly, disconnect the tube where the mast goes from the motor and try to hit the sleeve/rest of the mast outwards from bottom. what do you think?
