70K Checkup 850 96

I've got a 96 854 non-turbo with 70K. What needs replacing and how much should I expect to pay for the 70k checkup?

Thanks in advance.

Rob

Re: 70K Checkup 850 96

The owners manual has the complete list. In addition to

what it says the transmission should have the transmission

fluid flushed every 30 or 40K miles (maybe less, according

to some). The manual says never change it but I think a lot

of dealers are now doing this.

Thermostats are reported to fail around 70K miles, too. You

might want to have that replaced.

Re: 70K Checkup 850 96

Aside from the timing belt, you may want to have the serpentine belt replaced, if it wasn't done already at 60K. Cost varies based on where you live. My indie garage (I live in upstate NY) charged me around $275 to do both around 18 months ago, including parts. I usually shy away from "check-ups" as I feel that gives the mechanic or dealer carte blanche to lube the trunk hinges, fill the washer fluid, change the air filter, things I would do myself.
