96 850 GLT ABS Removal 850

I got the exchange ABS module from MidWest. Three of the bolts came off very easily. The fourth, lower right, is a bear. The head was corroded and the torx spun. I tried cutting a slot with my Foredom tool, that didnt work. After a lot of Mother of Pearls, I stopped for the night. Anyone have suggestions on getting the bolt out?

OK, replied, but think I messed up; hopefully, not a double post.

Suggest seeing if you can tap the socket firmly on the head after putting other screws back in as Klaus suggests. If that won't do it, I'd carefully grind the head off the screw (if possible) and remove the other 3. This will let you get the unit off and leave the offender sticking out so you can get it with a vise grip. It's not on there too tight. Don't mangle case of unit up as you proably need to send to Midwest ABS. Good luck.

Mine came out no sweat using the torx socket, probably just lucky. Sound like the head is mangled. I'd put the other 3 screws in like Klaus suggests and see if you can tap a socket on it and spin it off. You can't really even soak it with penetrating fluid. If that don't work, consider carefully grinding the head off. With the head gone, you can remove the unit and then spin the stupid screw out with vise grips or something, it's not in there too tight. Good luck. Try not to mangle case of unit as I'm sure you want to send that to MidWest ABS.

Mine came out with a 5/32 socket. The heads were all rusty. I have a set of needle nose vice grips which would work pretty good, I think.

Put the 3 screws back in, just snug, so there is less stress on the stubborn screw. You might want to remove the air cleaner box for easier access.
