What needs to be done on these PCV systems and at what intervals?

RTBimmer,

No issues, i.e. no smoking from dipstick tube, leaking seals, etc., leave it alone. Others may disagree but synthetic from near new makes a huge difference in these engines. Find something else to fix. Just my couple of cents worth.

Make sure it is not plugged up. Is smoke coming out of dispstick or are you leaking oil from seals, if so then PCV is probably plugged up? If so, take intake manifold off and replace bits and pieces, tedious, but not difficult if you take your time. Make sure drain at block is clear, mine had a big lump of glop in it.

So far no issues @213K. I've owned the car since 60K and have been running Full Synthetic since I got her...

I think I'll change everything just for the piece of mind...

Driving it a lot and synthetic makes a big difference. Sludge builds up from cold running and stop/go driving at low rpms.

Eventually, the oil separator lines and vacuums line will fail from the constant engine heat. Your MPG will decrease rapidly, you will know when it happens, and then it will be time to remove the intake manifold and do some work.

Plan to do it in the spring when the weather is a bit nicer.
