Is anyone making a reasonably priced code reader that will read the 2000 up Volvo ABS codes ? Or are the laptop/cracked code/cable type systems the only thing going for under $500 ?

    'Just had my ABS warning light diagnosed by my local $tealer - no, it wasn't free, they charged me $90 for the code print-out. Apparently I need a new ($600) steering angle sensor. What a RACKET!!!

    I found this ad which says the ELM327 will work for CAN/BUS systems. Don't order from here as it is an expensive UK site, Amazon.com would be cheaper.

    Laptop is your best bet. The hard thing is to find the code to diagnose the later model cars. The tiny ELM327 works for the 850, not sure about the CAN/BUS systems.

      Hi Klaus,

      How about if I cough up the dough for the laptop, the hacked/cracked interface and software, and you make it work ? In return I'll give use of the system anytime you want and you can come over and use my lift when ever you feel like it.

      Any opinion about the Autel MD802 ?

        I just haven't the foggiest idea where to buy the best scanner ever made for Volvo.

        There is no way I would spend that much money at northern tool. Even a garage heater only costs $500.

        Finding a used lap top should be simple and $10 for the ELM327? It comes with basic instructions. No, I will not do all of the hard work for you!!!
