car crash =( 850 96

I just got into my first car crash today with MY BABY!!!!! Im so pissed off my car was everything to me. What i am wondering now is can it be restored to the way it was before. I hit a tree going around 30 - 20 (not sure how fast i was goin happed to fast to look at speedometer) and i hit RIGHT in the middle :(. So does volvo make new plastic parts for the front? I need a new grill and the metal on the hood needs to be worked on too. Im just so bummed out I hope you can even read this and understand what im trying to say. Well any insight on the matter would help greatly. Thanks alot and PAY ATTENSION WHEN YOU DRIVE!!!!!!!

    Re: car crash =( 850 96

I had my car rear-ended and it was basically rebuilt from the "C" pillar back plus redoing the roof panel and rails.

    Here's the outcome:

    1. The mechanicals function as prior to the crash.

    2. The car has no accident caused squeaks, rattles, groans, etc.

    3. The body has no water leaks or additional wind noise.

    4. The paint was good, but it did not duplicate the factory finish. There were dirt "zits", overspray on the glass, and a bit of orange peel.

So, find a GOOD shop that works on Volvos or other European makes. Then plan on spending many, many, many hours with a buffer, clear-coat safe rubbing compound, polish and touch-up paint.

Now my car looks good even when examined closely. But, more importantly, it is there to protect my family again. The fact that it could be restored is a testament to Volvo's engineering competence as well as the skill of the body men.

    Best of luck,

    Bryan

If it makes you feel any better I hit TWO (2!!!!) parked cars in my parking lot this past week with my hitherto-pristine '95 850 GLT. Mine will be OK, but I think I KO'd one of the cars. Just wanted you to know you're not the only DA out there :) To your advice I'll add, "Don't get in a pissed-off hurry!"
