2007 AWD WAGON WINDSHIELD NEEDED

hI:
A friend at work has a 2007 awd xc wagon. Windshield has a large crack and a rain sensor, which he rarely uses. Dealer quoted him 1k, and he has a large deductable. He is in Indianapolis. Any suggestions as to a more realistic price? Thanks!

NEVER go to a dealer for body or glass work! Call around to the glass shops in Indianapolis and get a price ffrom them. Don't ask for just the glass cost, ask for the replacement cost. Rain sensors are cheap.

These companies will come to where the car is and replace it. Just don't schedule it on a rainy day :>)

Oh, it helps to be above 32F.

$1K for a dealer winshield quote sounds about right.
We replaced the windshield in wife`s 03 XC70 last summer for $265 at an indie auto glass shop. Looks good & fits well, no issues at all. This was a shop in Montana so doesn`t help you much other than info that windshields can be had for lots cheaper.

We had the windshield replaced in my son's Saab for about $250. (No rain sensor) The guy that took the order on the phone said it would have added about $20 if there was a rain sensor. It was one of those high volume companies that come out to your house or place of work. Took about an hour or slightly more max. The installer told me he does about 6 per day. There must be something like that in Indianapolis. Tell him to check the yellow pages.
