Hi Klause

after a warm start

doesnt change when driving down the road although we notice the air is warm coming thtough the vents which we try and adjust down with the temp control and without using the air conditioning.

the other day i had to have the lhs front tire replaced and when they drove the car off the hoist the heater was full on

as i type this and with your thoughts in mind, it seems that when the car is started the heater is automatically on and of course it is more noticable after a warm start

a trip to the dealers computer looks like its on the cards. do you concur?

regards David

Why not try running the system with the AC always switched on? This is the way the system is designed. With the ECC in auto mode and the AC on, you should never have to adjust the temps on either side. Assuming, of course, that the dash sensor isn't covered up.

Check your owner's manual, about page 124.

Dealer is the last resort as they charge real money.

Engine does not make any difference. But 'sometimes' does need a little clarification. Is it after a cold start, warm restart, or does it just 'happen' when driving on the highway?

The ECC units are now loaded with software instead of just a dumb circuit board, so a dealer 'download' might be a solution.

You should never be required to move the temperature dial from your ideal temperature setting. That is what the 'auto' function is all about.
