Re: Rear Speaker Removal S70 1998

John,

This is a fun one and will take a little time.(1.5 hrs start to finish)

I hope you don't mind seeing your car in pieces.

First you will have to remove the side bolsters on the rear seat.

This is done by pulling straight out on the top of the bolster and then lifting up on it.

Then fold down the rear seat.

Across the front of the hat shelf there are 4 shaps that hold the shelf in place. Lift up on the shelf at the location of the snap until it pops loose. Once the snaps are free pull the shelf towards you and it should come out.

When the hat shelf is out you can then remove the speakers(6" round). To do this remove the plug by spreading the retaining clips. The speaker is held in by 2(I believe 10mm) screws on a plastic base.

Assemble in the reverse order. When putting the hat shelf back be sure to angle the back down. There are two hooks that need to make it under two pins to hold the back of the shelf down. The bolsters just snap back into place.

It is not real hard, just be careful not to damage the snaps.
