trunk open warning message V70-XC70 2003

I'm getting the trunk door open message/warning. Also my alarm is going off randomly which I assume is related to intermittent open signal to a computer. So I visually inspected the wiring in both hinges. Did not apply meter to check but they visually looked fine with no obvious breaks. Also had a look under the seats as I think I read that sometimes things can happen there, again seems okay visually. I tried adjusting the hook on the body where the door closes and I went so far as the door is now rattling. Still I get the message. I tested for continuity along all trace lines in many positions on the glass, and could not find any breaks in them.

So now I'm trying to remove the inside panel of the trunk. I Removed the 4 torx bolts, but it still is solidly attached. Does anyone know how to remove this? I'm going to get in there and see what I can find out.

Also if anyone has any other tips on where and what to do with this problem.

Thanks,

Y.

Before you totally mess things up, did you check out the lock?

What I do is start the car, open the trunk, grab a phillips screwdriver (it has a round shaft), use the shaft to move the latch to its first 'close' position, check the idiot light, move it to the second latched position and check the idiot light again.

If the light is still on, the micro switch in the lock is not working.

As for the alarm going off, I don't have a clue.

Move the latch bar on the bumper back to its original position before you forget where it is.

Thanks KlausC!

The only thing I've done is move the striker plate out a bit- it should be easy to set back as there is an obvious shadow where it was before.

I tried what you said to do, both with key in and out of ignition etc. Yeah the voltage to the trunk light never goes down when I push the lock in to step one and two closed positions. So it's the micro switch?

I'm going to need to open that panel to get at it and not sure how it comes off. I have the 4 screws out do I just pry the panel off?

Thanks,

Yaleh.

Too new for me! The older versions had clamps at the bottom, then it was lift up and off.

So the panel removal is the 4 torx and a handful of those press fit things.

And I solved the alarm, and tailgate open warning signal! The connector to the lock assembly had one corroded pin which was one of the ones involved with the switch. Really happy that's solved. That must mean that it's a closed circuit when the door is closed. It explains why it happened intermittently as the contact was also intermittent.
