Wanting to buy a 2000 V70 V70-XC70 2000

I have the chance to buy a 2000 V70 from an acquaintance. Good price and a full check by a mechanic that I trust will be performed. I could even pull an oil and ATF sample for analysis.

Can you provide an advice or resources to help me determine if this car is likely to be a winner?

I've been buying and maintaining Toyotas for most of the past few decades. They rarely fail and rarely get sold :)

    Wanting to buy a 2000 V70 V70-XC70 2000

The specific sticky points for the 2000 V70 are the electronic throttle module (check for a replacement with a yellow label one or a Xemodex update) and the 5 speed automatic (just in the FWD, not the AWD in 2000). These 5 speed automatics are known for premature failures, particularly if the software has not been updated.

    Good luck!
