Electronic Throttle Control Question S70 1999

Hello All,
I have been looking at 99 S70 and V70 but I have been avoiding those years b/c of the ETC issues. I know there are retrofit kits.

My question is when looking at used 1999 models, how can I tell is the ETC has been upgraded or retrofitted? What so I look for under the intake?

Thanks

Electronic Throttle Control Question S70 1999

The original ETMs for 1999 and 2000 had white stickers on them, these units seldom lasted more than 100K miles. Replacement ETMs have a yellow sticker and seem to be much more robust. Maintenance history is always a plus.

Remember, for less than $500US, www.xemodex.com will repair the ETM for life and no dealer is required. Just keep that receipt in the glove box for the next owner.

Watch out for the vinyl door inserts, they tend to come delaminated when exposed to high heat. There is no easy fix for this.
