Control arm - alignment needed? 850 1995

My 95 855 is going to need a new control arm/ball joint. Have heard from some that I do need an alignment afterwards. Others say no. IIRC, on older cars without the control arm/ball joint unit, when replacing just a ball joint there is no need for an alignment. Any thoughts or opinions?
