1998 V70 CV joint clicking ? V70-XC70

My 1998 V70 5 speed NA with 130K miles has started clicking when the car turns right. The clicking is coming from the front passenger side and occurs when the steering wheel is turned even slightly right. No clicking when going straight or turning left. Over the past month the clicking has become more noticeable so I think it is time to figure out the problem and fix it.

From other posts I suspect the passenger side CV joint is failing. The drive axle looks original and both boots are OK. Have CV joints been known to fail at 130K miles even though the boots are not leaking ?

Thanks,

Mike

    1998 V70 CV joint clicking ? V70-XC70

Gonna do one tomorrow on my 850, got a rebuilt from CVJ axles in Denver. No Chinese stuff, no reground races or oversize balls. Got the tip from Volvospeed, guaranteed forever, even boot tears! We'll see how good it is, I figure, can't be worse than the 65 buck shafts at Autozone and all likelihood its better. Good luck.

The simple answer to your question is, yes.
Generally, the clicking is a symptom of a failed CV joint.
The boot does not have to fail for the joint to be bad.
