rear light failure..??? 850

1995 850 wagon- The lights that run along the rear hatch on both sides are OUT. The bottom square grouping and tailgate brake lite are working...just the two upper units are out. Bulbs are fine. What should I look for?

Look for a rusty ground on the upper tail lights. If the bulbs are new, try cleaning out the bulb holders to remove any corrosion that builds up. If you have a multimeter, check for voltage at the holder - you may have to find a good ground for the multimeter.

do you mean the directional lamps?
or the brake lights and directionals are dead?
and you say the center brake light works?
