Cigarette lighter 850 94

I'm getting shorts when I use my cigarette lighter socket to plug in cellphone, etc. I'm sure it's not the adapter cords because they work fine in other cars. I tried cleaning inside the socket and roughing it up a little with sandpaper, but no luck. Is it easy enough to replace the socket or does it involve removing half the dash/cowling?

Re: Cigarette lighter 850 94

I had my cig lighter fuse blow last week. I keep my radar detector plugged in it constantly, and "on". I will be interested to hear what you find out.

Re: Cigarette lighter 850 94

I looked at it a little harder and it turned out to be pretty easy. There are 2 exposed screws holding the lighter tray in place. Just remove them and pull the tray out. A little sanding and playing with the tension on the wings fixed my problem. I don't recall seeing a fuse in there though, but then again I wasn't really lookking for one. I'd think it would be in the fuse box with the rest of the fuses.
