Another Fresh Air Vent question V70-XC70 1998

OK, so I am now a believer on the Fresh Air vent position for use during the winter on my V70. As we go through my first heat wave with my car, what's the best way to use this vent in the summer?

Does the fresh air come in through the filter only? Does it bypass the heated or cooled air? If so, it seems that I'd want this vent closed during the entire summer (provided that it's hotter out than I inside the car and I want to keep it that way).

Why else would I want it open in the summer?

Anyone tips appreciated.

thanks, as always.

Re: Another Fresh Air Vent question V70-XC70 1998

    Adam,

The fresh air vent(Airmix) allows the air coming in through the pollen filter, bypassing the heating and cooling, to go directly to the vents.

This means that in the summer you get hot air and in the winter you get cold air. To warn/cool the compartment quickly close the Airmix.

This feature does not pull in outsdide air if your fresh air damper is closed.(Recircultion is on)

I always close my Airmix in the summer. Can't think of a reasion to leave it open.
