All of a sudden codes P1633, P1630, P1631 V70-XC70 2000

As many of you who visit this site and look at the postings I have been working on this car for the past year. Since Mid September everything was working fine and all codes were gone.(below is a list of things that I have done to the car since under my ownership this past year.)

Here is the laundry list of things I have done to the Car since last fall.

-New Brakes, Rotors, Pads, Calipers and SS Brake Lines.
-New Heater Core unit.
-New Shifter switch.

Complete rework of the Interior of the Car.

-New Car Battery.
-New Plugs
-New Coils
-New Evap Hose
-New Silcone Turbo lines
-replaced just about all the vacuum lines
-New Oxygen Sensors (Front/Rear)
-New Cat. Converter Complete with pipes
-Remanufactured Throttle Body Unit from BBA (w/Lifetime Warranty)
-All New PCV System
-New Front Cam Seals.
-New Camshaft Position Sensor
-New Timing Belt
-New Serp Belt
-New outer Tie Rods(both)
-New Control Arms(both)
-New Sway bar Links(both)
-New Fuel Line on Car
-New Set of Tires for the Car(cooper cs4)
-New Alternator
-New Spring Seats(front struts)
-New Oil Cooler Gaskets
-New Turbo Gaskets
-New Turbo Control Valve (IPD HD)

Also redid a lot of the wire tubing in the engine compartment as I have been working on things.

Now as of this morning which was in the 30's at 6:30. I started the car, it warmed up no issues at this point. Drove off and about 1 mile down the road the tachometer went dead. Car ran fine to the destination but the tachometer stayed flat lined.
Two hours later I started the car but it was rough and did not want to start right away, no lights on dash and no life from the Tachometer. So I pulled out my tester it read the following P1633, P1630, P1631. I drove off and the car had no pickup and was very unresponsive.

What is the issue now?

Help so I can rectify this quickly. Thanks.

It really does sound like the ABS control box died. The speed signals go through there. The ABS and TRKS should be lit.

Also check the cam position sensor and verify that the wires and connectors are good.

These are not valid Volvo codes BTW.

would you know how to open the abs module case. I'd like to do the repair as I own the soldering equipment to fix it. Let me know.

        Search youtube.com
The case is very difficult to open without breaking the plastic, so be very careful. It is 'waterproof' so a good RTV or plastic glue to put it back together is probably needed.

https://www.midwest-abs.com/ is reasonably cheap and has a good reptutation. But, he will not accept a broken case.

Just got the replacement unit from Midwest-abs and installed it. Took about 30 minutes, start to finish. Should I clear the codes or should I just drive and let the system try to clear them out?

Well, 1 week later and all the codes and check engine light are back. What should I do at this point.
Getting tired of chasing these check engine codes for the past year.

          All of a sudden codes P1633, P1630, P1631 V70-XC70 2000

Just finished talking with the guy from Midwest.
Basically $98 and he sends out a replacement with an e-5socket, you send back the old unit and the socket in 2 weeks.
But he stated that the p1630 and p1631 have nothing to do with the abs failling.
Any other ideas as to why these other codes come up at the same time?

P1630 and P1631 are Control Module errors, meaning they are having difficulty communicating with other computers. This could be ABS related, or even the loose plug. The 'green' plastic is only good for about 10 years before it gets brittle.

BTW, is your ETM in good shape? A yellow label or xemodex refit?

If you cannot clear these codes with your scanner, you may have to disconnect the battery and ground the system.

The ETM UNIT was replaced this may with a reman unit from bba reman. It came with a lifetime warranty on it.
At 3 pm today the ets light came on. Still same codes as before and still no tachometer.
At 4:15 pm started car ets light on, flashing arrow on, check engine light on.
Now have a new code of p1172 off of my odb reader.

              what the heck now?
Growing frustrated after dropping all sort of money in parts on this car this year.

                As of 11/10/14.
This morning at 1:30 am - started car no problem, had the flashing arrow, check engine, the P1633, 1630, 1631 codes and the Tachometer ran fine. It did this for 50 miles to work.

Then at 9:00 am - Started no problem, no flashing arrow, had the check engine, P1633, 1630, 1631, tachometer ran fine. About 1/2 way home the tachometer stopped working then every time I stopped it felt like the car was starting in third gear to get moving again.

                any ideas?

Is the ETM bolted up good and snug? Did it get a new gasket when it was replaced?

ETM on tight and has a new gasket when I did the replacement in May 2014; also that is when I worked on the PCV system (complete)as well.

P1172 - long term fuel trim - lower limit. Possible causes:

                intake air leakage
                -high fuel pressure
                -leaking injectors
-defective mass air flow (MAF) sensor
                -contaminated engine oil
                -oil level too high
                -defective heated oxygen sensor (HO2S)

Or it may be related to the other problems. The ETS is a bummer as well and can help cause the 1172. BBA reman is not on my favorite companies list.

Noticed that the black cover over the wire harness is broken. Is that an issue? Can that be replaced? Or is it part of the blue wire housing?

The black cover is used to hold down the massive plug. Verify that the plug is making good contact and the contacts look clean and shiney.

If it is replaceable, should be, it will need to be ordered at a dealer or from a donor car.
