S70 GLT 850 1996

I'M Thinking of upgrading from my 1996 850 sedan to a pre-owned 1998 s70 glt with the low pressure turbo.

I think it would be anice upgrade. It would give me more HP ,sunroof, and window controls on the door!!

Please ,if any one has any comments, suggestions, they would be welcome!!

I have 67,000 miles on my 850

Re: S70 GLT 850 1997

It all depends how muchyou can spend. Like you I wanted to upgrade from my '97 to '98 at that time. But found out to much to pay for so little improvements. I think '98 has a few more problems than say 2000 model.

Unless you want to spend more to get a 2001, if not you should keep/wait a liitle bit longer.

Peter

Re: S70 GLT 850 1996

How much will it cost you to upgrade? My quick math would be something like 8K or more. For the SR and few more ponies it wouldn't be worth it to me but only you can decide that. Good luck in your decision.

If nothing's wrong with your 850, I'd say to keep it. You never know what problems you will inherit with a used vehicle.

Re: S70 GLT 850 1996

A Volvo with 67,000 miles is not even broken in. Window switches on the door hardly seems a good reason to get another car. The sun roof is nice to have, but all things considered, I'd agree with KC. You don't know what problem will come with a used car. And, the '96 850 had better reliability ratings than the '98 S70.

OTOH the ride is somewhat less tooth rattling on the S70 and the interior is more modern. Volvo aficianados consider the 850 more attractive. To me, they all look alike--even back to the 7nn series.

Good luck with your decision.

Bryan
