Gassy smell after wastegate adjustment 850 1997

Hi everyone,

I went ahead and gave the wastegate actuator rod a few turns (5)

and now it smells like a strong odor of gas when I am outside of it.

I lifted the hood and could not locate any wet gas or determine where

it is coming from.

....any ideas? Should I be concerned?

If you have increased the boost, it could be that you have some injector seals that were marginal and with the higher pressure are now leaking a little. Under boost, they will allow leakage of fuel/air mixture into the engine compartment. Also check for any other hoses or gaskets that could be leaking.

Did you touch the turbo housing or the downpipe by any chance?

Any oil, or other contaminants could have gotten onto the housing and is being burned to create a nasty smell.

Iknow that I didn't spill anything or getoil on it but it is a

definate gas smell.

is this terrance from NJ/NY with the white volvo? I doubt it since he's in korea or japan forgot which

NO, this is not that Terrence. That one would leave his last name..

He's in Hong Kong..not Korea or Japan.
