LPT or HPT C70

I am going to look for a replacement car because I sold the 1996 854 GLT.

When looking at a 'newer' car, is there an easy way to look at a C70 and determine if the engine has a high pressure turbo or a low pressure turbo????

The C70s do not have badges. Obviously, if I drive one, I will be able to notice when the HP turbo engages. But I don't want a C70 with a LP turbo.

Anyone know of C70s with HPT and a clutch?????

    Hola Amigo,

A convertible will be a real nice ride for the summer. I once thought about doing the same thing but no place to hide all the toys!

Did you sell the 854 back to the previous owner ?

Yep! She called me and asked if I still had her first car. As everything is now fixed except the AC, the paint looks new with a little rubbing compound, the seat leathers totally refreshed, the climate control functioning, and a new exhaust hanger installed today. She got a bargain.

I gave her $1,000 for her piece of junk. She got 2 years of indoor storage and a heck of a lot of TLC. She is happy, I am happy.

Now to look for another car. I thought a 2004 C70 would be fun...

    Found it C70

The Volvo Owners breaks down the VIN:
YV1NC = convertible, followed by 62 (HPT) or 65 (LPT).

And any clutch models will have the HPT.

This is for a 2004, the last good year?

Good luck with the search. I think a nice c70 with a stick would be a nice catch. Theyre probably at the bottom of their value curve right now - up from here. By I would probably go a bit older and get a coupe. Just my pref though.

I thought about older too. I don't fit well in a 780, besides I had one once, and 700/900 seats don't work for me. 240s are too expensive and most of them around here have rust issues.

I have had a 1967 220, 164, 245, 780, 850(3), 1998 V70 R. I think it is time to either get a drop top C70 or some other brand that will be fun for 2 months out of the year. And reliable enough for visitors to drive.
