Car whistles when turned off...AC?? S70 1998

My 98 S70 w/ 49k whistles when I turn it off. Dealer says it's normal but can't tell me what it is. I have never heard another S70 do this. I believe it to be the AC. Maybe decompressing?? Any one heard of this?

Also as side note....

Go to your dealer and get a recall report done. I did and had about a $1000 worth of work done on Volvo's dime. Rotors replaced, door panels, headlamp switch, passenger air bag ground wire and a few other things I can't remember. Seemed to be a combo of warranty work and recalls. It's worth the check.

    I hear a hissing type of sound when I turn off my 00 S70 after running the AC. More of a hiss, not a whistle.

      The hissing noise you hear is the refrigerant "boiling" off in the evaporator coil located behind your dash. When the a/c is running it is continually "injecting" refrigerant into the evaporator. When you turn the car off you are hearing that last bit of r134 evaporating or boiling inside the coil as the pressures equalize between the high and low pressure sides of the a/c system. It is normal.
