Is there a differance in power between the european version and us version t5's? I was in Ireland and rented one. It was pure exhileration. I have to have one. what is the differance if any other than left hand drive? What a wagen!

T5 - 222hp for US mart, 225 for Europe (and most of the rest of the world).

R - 240 for US, 250 rest of world.

Rest of world 1, US Nil! :-)

You are correct on those numbers but they have nothing to do with actual power. The difference has to do with the way they measure/rate HP in Europe and the US.

Everyone's numbers are correct.

The hp of the t5 has increased over the years.

'94-96 222hp

'97-98 236hp

'99&up 247hp

Same as mine and everyone else who has a US V70 T5. In the US, the T5 is rated at 247HP and in Europe it is rated at 250HP.

Shouldn't be. The only difference would be the octane rating of US gas vs. what ypu find in Europe. Unfortunately, the US gas has much lower octane than the European versions.

Yannis - no, it doesn't. A matter of measurement technique. Europe uses RON, US - (R+M)/2. Hence, the difference (roughly 5): US 93 is roughly equivalent to RON 98.

YOu are absolutely correct! I totally forgot about this! I still thought that our gas had (still) a lower octane rating, perhaps not.
