TBelt change for `04 XC70

We`ve pulled the trigger on buying my friend`s `04 XC70. It is approaching 180K & the timing belt was changed at 120K. At what mileage will we be looking at that service?
It runs strong but needs outer tie rod ends, Haldex seals service & a new rear wiper motor. The price we paid reflects the cost of those repairs.
We will keeping her `03 XC70 but my wife no longer has confidence in the car as a daily commuter with it`s shift flare issues + the brake pedal cable problem of the past week.
Thanks,
Rich

I look at the price of a failure from not changing the timing belt and tensioner (brother's Audi ~$5000) and err on the short side of what is recommended. 90,000 is about as far as I care to go. Klaus' mileage may differ...

Here are the goodies for 2004:

* Fuel filter is not replaceable on models identified by engine VIN codes 38, 39, 64, & 68.

**** Models identified by engine VIN codes 39 & 64 sold in California, Massachusetts, Vermont, New York and Maine are classified as PZEV vehicles. The timing belt and tensioner replacement interval for these vehicles only is 15 years or 150,000 miles / 240,000 kilometers.
***** Service interval for engine VIN codes 59 & 61 only is 120,000 miles or 192,000 kilometers
****** Service interval for engine VIN code 59 is 120,000 miles / 192,000 kilometers. Service interval after first service for all turbo models is every 45,000 miles / 72,000 kilometers. No service required on engine VIN code 68.
******* Service interval for engine VIN codes 38, 59, 61 & 68 only is 120,000 miles or 192,000 kilometers.
For service intervals beyond 150,000 miles, consult your authorized Volvo retailer. Maximum replacement time interval for all engines except engine VIN code # 39 & 64 is 10 years.

I am surprised that the rear wiper motor is dead. Usually it is the wire bundle at the hinge that gets messed up. Check the license plate light bulbs and make sure they also work.

If the water pump was replaced at the first Tbelt and they used Volvo Antifreeze, the pump should last a very long time. The tensioner and idler pulley do get replaced.
