I just got in the mail a replacement axle for my 99 V70 Drivers side.
I am replacing because of a badly torn boot. No noise yet, but i figured I would order the replacement to have on hand.
The thing is, I have never done an axle before, and I feel that the CV joint on the re manufactured axle seems very stiff. I can move it around by hand, but with a pretty substantial amount of effort. Is this normal?
I just assumed it would move around pretty freely.

    I don't think that it will be a problem as long as the joints move smoothly.

    I have a reman drive axle for my Honda on the shelf and it is easy to move by hand, but not at all 'floppy'.
