Engines

I'm looking at getting either a '93 or '94 850. One of my friends said that with those models its possible to get an engine from a mustang and just bolt it in instead of the standard volvo one. I was wondering if this was true or if it would need some sort of other modifications. I was also wondering if it would be worth doing. Any feedback would be great. If you know any websites with 850s with this modification, please send me a link. Thanks.

-Chris

Why bother? Just get a Mustang - it's cheaper. (NMI)

    Re: Engines

I think you're friend is mistaken.

The only Volvos I've ever heard of getting ford or chevy engines were RWD, i.e. 200, 700, 900 etc.

There are a couple guys on the RWD forum that have had this done.

Think about it, how would you mount a small block V8 in that engine bay and deliver it to the front wheels? Maybe if a RWD conversion were done, but I just don't see that happening.

      I concur....more

at any rate it would not be a just "bolt right up, or drop in" type of mod.
