Need a video to show how to replace a fuel sending unit - Any suggestions? 850 1996

Hello All,

I have a 1996 850 GLT wagon (non-turbo) with a 5 speed . I need to replace the fuel sending unit in the gas tank. I have the Haynes manual, but can anyone recommend where I could find a video to show my how to do this repair?

Thanks to all who reply.

Hugh

It's not rocket science. Remove the panel just behind the rear seat, meaning you will need to remove most of the floor panel to get to that.

There are 2 aluminum covers behind the passenger seat, lots of 8 or 10mm screws. Remove both covers, the screws are interchangeable.

The one on the right side of the car is the sending unit. The plug for the sending unit is by the fuel pump in the center of the car.

The round plastic bunge screw cap is what holds the unit in. I used a pair of regular pliers, upside down - the handle ends stuck into the plastic at 180 degrees apart - and turned counter clockwise. If the gasket stays put, good, don't try to remove it.

Unplug the sender wires by the fuel pump, lift out the sender and set it on newspaper or some such as it will be wet. Drop in the new sender and replace the cap. Plug in the sender to the wiring harness.
