EGR making it hard to get manifold out 850 2005

I have slowly begun my PCV replacement. All of the vacuum lines are off, the EGR line has been unbolted - the brass line from the exhaust to the manifold, where it attaches to the bottom of the TB area.

But I cannot get the EGR separated from the brass line!!! Is there a trick? They seem to be fused. Will PBBlaster help?

I want this to be finished by Saturday as the heat returns.

Thanks

EGR making it hard to get manifold out 850 2005

    Hola Amigo,

Give PB blaster a try, I clean my EGR once and it was a real pain.

I removed the sensor and apply some light heat to the fitting.

EGR makes for a very dirty intake manifold 850 2005

So I had to remove the 8mm bolts holding the EGR to the manifold, then it all lifted out:

And this is what the intake runners look like:

The EGR was relatively clean, so I am not going to clean it. Just blast the throttle body while it is easy to do.

I wish I had a tray and a couple of gallons of solvent to clean out the manifold, but I don't.

The small vacuum line from #1 cylinder to the PTC nipple was completely clogged. The lower hole for the oil separator box was 3/4 filled with sludge. There was sludge in the large vacuum line also, the oil separator box was a lot heavier than the new box! I think this job will fix the vacuum problem.

You can take the manifold to a car wash and use some oven cleaner.

Just removed the throttle body first.
