Spark plugs on 2000 S40 S40-V40 2000

I'm sorry if this question has been answered here before. Where are the spark plugs on S40 and how do we get to them? Thanks for your response.

Re: Spark plugs on 2000 S40 S40-V40 2000

On top of your engine, you can see a blacl plastic cover that has the word "VOLVO" imprinted. Remove the screws (I think there are six) and when you lift the cover you will see the spark plugs. Make sure that your engine is not hot before you do anything with them and make sure that the holes are covered up while you have them out so nothing foreign goes in, by mistake. Finally, make sure that you do not put the new plugs in the wring way because if you cross thread them you are in deep $#!t!

Yannis,

Thanks for the info and for all the precautions. On that note, what brands of spark plugs are recommended for the S40 (MY 2000 USA) other than Champion (as given in my owner's manual)? Thanks again.

Johan
